Conservatory Roof System
Homeshield uses the Pilkington Activ™ glass roof system for its conservatory roofs. They are the UK market leader in conservatory roof systems which is why we use them. They are the best at what they do and we are the best at what we do in designing and installing top quality conservatories.
The conservatory roof systems we use are an built to an excellent standard. We can offer many options for tackling difficult sites, where box gutters and other features are required. We also consistently work to over come design problems with innovative solutions.
Pilkington Activ™ glass roof
Specially designed for the optimum roof unit, Pilkington Activ™ Blue is a revolutionary new glass that is perfect for use in conservatories. It uses daylight and rainwater to breakdown and wash away organic dirt from exterior surfaces, making it ideal for hard to reach places that are difficult to clean. Its unique blue colour also helps keep internal temperatures cool whilst still maintaining excellent light transmission.
Performance Combination
For optimum self-cleaning and thermal performance, combine Pilkington Activ™ Blue with Pilkington K Glass™ or Pilkington Optitherm™ SN in an Insulating Glass Unit. This ‘next generation’ glass combines dual-action, self-cleaning properties with solar control performance for a cooler internal environment. This greatly increases the number of days in the year when the conservatory can be used in comfort.
‘Warmer in winter, cooler in summer’.

We recommend that you do not opt for conservatory roof systems made from standard PVCu window frame materials like some window companies use. It is best to use a purpose-built roof system because as the conservatory ages non purpose built roofs tend to leak.

Alternatively you could use polycarbonate which comes in a range of Clear, Bronze, Opal, Bronze Opal and for those south facing houses Heat Shield or the new Servoshield glass roof. Polycarbonate comes in 25mm and 32mm 5 ply in a selection of Clear, Bronze, Opal, Bronze Opal, and for those south facing houses Heat shield, affords extra protection for south facing conservatories.
